The Ghana Police Service has announced sweeping security measures across the country to ensure the safety of all citizens during the 2026 Easter celebrations.

In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate on April 2, 2026, the Service said robust measures have been put in place, including the nationwide deployment of police personnel to key locations expected to witness large gatherings.

According to the statement, special attention has been given to the Kwahu enclave, a major hotspot for Easter activities, where officers have been deployed to event grounds, recreational centres, and other high-traffic areas. Major routes leading to and from Kwahu will also see increased police presence, with traffic personnel tasked to manage congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The Police further disclosed that intelligence-led operations have been activated across the country to prevent and respond swiftly to any criminal activity during the festive period.

The Service has urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere strictly to safety regulations. Motorists have been advised to observe road traffic rules, avoid overspeeding, refrain from drunk driving, and comply with instructions from officers on duty.

Additionally, the Police encouraged individuals to take personal safety precautions and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Reassuring the public, the Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, wishing all citizens a safe and enjoyable Easter celebration.
