The NDC Zongo Caucus based in the Asanti Region have claimed that the 7 persons shot and killed by Policemen on Tuesday, July 17 were not armed robbers but rather innocent citizens.
According to the caucus, the report being given by the Police is a complete fabrication, since the individuals were young law-abiding youth known within the Zongo community.
"The Zongo community is yet to come to terms with the recent shooting and killing of some innocent
natives of Zongo community by this same police the taxpayers take care of to protect the very citizens they are killing." they stated in a press release.
They have thus described the acts of the police as barbaric and discriminatory towards people who hail from the Zongo community and are calling on government and the leadership of the police service to investigate and bring clearance to the matter.
The NDC Zongo Caucus has however urged the youth to restrain themselves from taking the law into their own hands.
