Two young men are under police guard at the hospital after an attempted late-night attack on the residence of a Court of Appeal judge was foiled by a police bodyguard on duty.
The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Ashanti Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service.
The suspects, identified as Patrick Alor, 23, and Akwasi Gyamfi, 21, allegedly scaled the fence of the judge’s property armed with cutlasses and a pair of scissors.
Police say the two men were attempting to break into the judge’s private vehicle when their presence was detected by the officer assigned to protect the home.
When he confronted them, they reportedly resisted and tried to overpower him.
Both suspects were shot in the legs and were immediately arrested. They were taken under heavy police escort to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving treatment and are said to be in stable condition.
