Prof. Ernest Yorke elected President of Ghana Medical Association

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has elected Professor Ernest Yorke as its new President, triumphing over his nearest rival, Dr Justice Yankson.

Prof. Yorke obtained 1,857 votes, which accounts for 53.6 percent of the total valid ballots submitted.


The results were announced by the Chairperson of the GMA Electoral Committee, Dr Rita Larsen-Reindorf, after the conclusion of voting on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

As an educator and health advocate, Prof. Yorke has previously held positions as a member of the Junior Doctors’ Representative Council, Divisional Secretary, Divisional Vice Chair, and a member of the GMA Council.
