The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has expressed concern over what he described as a growing disregard for the Ga people, despite their role as custodians of Ghana’s capital.

Speaking at a durbar to climax the 2025 Homowo celebration in Kpone, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, the Ga Mantse emphasised the need for greater respect for Ga customs and traditions, even within the cosmopolitan setting of the Greater Accra Region.

He, however, reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional authorities to safeguarding peace and harmony in the region, which he said remain critical for socio-economic development.

“We won’t banish anyone from Accra because we are welcoming by nature, and the least we expect is to be respected and duly honoured. The Greater Accra Region has been successful as the country’s capital because of the loving nature of the Ga people. It should never happen that we are disrespected for hosting the nation’s capital,” he said.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II further stressed that Ga traditions and customs must be preserved and respected to empower traditional leadership and strengthen cultural identity, while the Ga people continue to contribute to peace and development.

The Ga Mantse also appealed to corporate bodies operating in Kpone to prioritize the town’s development through meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives.
