Sanitation courts within the Accra Metropolis are being renovated to help prosecute persons who will go against the sanitation regulations of the capital. That’s according to the Accra Mayor Nii Adjei Sowah who on August 5 inspected some areas in the Greater Accra Region as part of National Sanitation Day.

The first Saturday of every month was set aside as National Sanitation Day under the National Democratic Congress [NDC] government as a time to clean the  country. The national exercise in it's early stages received a lot of patronage but the subsequent months have seen low pubic involvement.

Speaking to the media after visiting some areas in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Nii Adjei Sowah said the sanitation courts in the country are under renovation to complement the efforts of the AMA to keep the city clean.

With the renovation of the courts the AMA would not just serve people with summons but rather drag them to the court for the necessary sanctions.
