Two armed robbers have been killed by the night patrol team under the Sawla District Police Command in the Savannah Region.
According to the District Police Commander, ASP De-Graft Adjei, the incident occurred at Kalba shortly after his outfit received a distress call at about 2:00 am on Sunday about a robbery incident.
He said his Command dispatched a patrol team to the area but upon reaching the scene, the suspected robbers opened fire on the officers.
Police retaliated, and with superior firepower subdued them.
A police statement said the shoot-out ensued between personnel on the patrol team and the two dangerous robbers resulted in the death of the robbers.
One of the deceased has been identified as Yussif Bolii, 20, police said in a statement.
This was after an inspection was carried out on the bodies.
Two unregistered motorbikes, a knife and some foreign gun cartridges were also retrieved from the deceased robbers.
