SEE: Mahama opens $65m Zoomlion/Government built treatment plants at Lavender Hill

President John Mahama on Friday inaugurated the estimated $65 million Lavender Hill Faecal and Mudor Waste Water treatment plants in Accra.

The two new plants, funded through a public-private partnership arrangement between government and Zoomlion Ghana Limited would serve as a suitable, environmentally sustainable and lawful mode of managing rather than the practice of dumping Septage into lagoons at the Lavender Hill which had been the norm since the 1970s.

The plants, which will be operated by Sewage Systems Ghana Limited has a 20-year-old lifespan will also have an ancillary modern laboratory facility which will test both the influent and the effluent qualities of the waste water. The final effluent will meet the EPA standards and will also be pumped back into the system for reuse in the plant.
