Former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John has said, he is ready to offer free counselling service to any member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on how to survive in opposition.

According to Sir John, he has acquired numerous experiences for the past eight years he has been in opposition and therefore has what it takes to help the opposition NDC to survive in their hard times.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Sir John said, “It is very difficult leaving in opposition after leaving on freebies but I’m ready to offer them counselling on how some of us survived eight years in opposition".

Furthermore, Sir John opined that the NDC’s worrying defeat in the December 7 elections was self-inflicted and thus the Akufo-Addo led administration should not be an avenue for them to unleashed their agony.

Per Sir John’s post-mortem, NDC party executives from National level down to the constituency level were to be blamed for the painful loss.

“The NDC does not need any committee to investigate what cause their loss. The arrogance of public officials and total disrespect for the citizenry including religious bodies and opinion leaders led to their defeat”

According to the former NPP General Secretary, he was astounded as to why the NDC were so confident of victory when as a matter of fact “even President John Mahama knew Nana Akufo-Addo will win the elections.”
