Three former senior officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have been arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as part of a corruption probe involving revenue assurance contracts with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
The individuals include Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the former Commissioner-General of the GRA; Isaac Crentsil, the ex-Commissioner of Customs and now a General Manager at SML; and Christian Tetteh Sottie, a former Technical Advisor who currently serves as the company’s Managing Director.
The arrests are linked to ongoing investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of contracts between the GRA and SML for revenue assurance services.
The probe also seeks to verify SML’s claims that its services have been saving the nation significant revenues.
The trio were detained on Monday night after failing to meet bail conditions.
The SML scandal is one of the reasons the Special Prosecutor has declared Ken Ofori-Atta wanted over suspected corruption and corruption-related offences. Ken Ofori-Atta masterminded the consolidated SML contract in 2023, which entitled the company to over $100 million a year from the state. That contract was for five years, renewable for another five years.
