The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has dismissed reports of receiving a medical report suggesting that former Finance Minister, Mr Kenneth Ofori-Atta, is medically unfit to travel.
In a public notice issued on June 3, 2025, the OSP stated that neither Mr. Ofori-Atta nor his lawyers have submitted any such medical letter to his office.

According to the OSP, the only official communication from his legal team is a notification of a change in his medical status, based solely on their claims.
The OSP emphasised that the alleged hospital document has only appeared in the media and not through proper legal channels.
This follows a disputed document, dated 14 May 2025 and purportedly signed by Dr Ahmed Abdalrhim, an internal medicine specialist with the Section of International Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, that surfaced online today, Tuesday.
It explained Ofori-Atta’s inability to honour a scheduled meeting with the OSP on 2 June 2025.
The purported medical report, titled “And To Whom It May Concern”, read as follows: “Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you that Mr Ofori-Atta has undergone an MR-guided Biopsy and has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.
“A surgical intervention has been deemed necessary, after the testing and MRI and Biopsy procedures in March 2025, as I indicated in my February letter.
“This surgical procedure has been scheduled for June 13, with Dr. Paras Shah of the Department of Urology (see attached letter). It is hoped that a closer date may open up,” the medical report stated.
“Following the procedure, Mr. Ofori-Atta will require a recovery period before he is able to travel to his home country. Please feel free to contact me if you require any additional information or have further questions,'' the medical report further read.
