The Ministry of Interior has sought to explain the circumstances surrounding the arrest of three South African ex-police officers who were charged with unlawful training, false declarartion and the security chief of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda.

Lawyers for the three South Africans were left fuming after the BNI whisked them away in an apparent refusal of a court order to grant them bail and the NPP has also Accused the gove nment of having a hiding behind the national security apparatus to harass them.
But a statement signed by the minister, Prosper K. Bani, Â explained that the three who had been released by the BNI as the court ordered were re-arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for questioning and were only being held by the BNI because the GIS asked the Bureau to provide custody.
