It appears several calls to the public not to take the law into their own hands by lynching persons suspected of a crime has not sunk in, to sections of the population, most especially residents at Akokwaso a suburb of Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.

They have butchered a 32-year-old man, Francis Eddy whom they suspected of being an armed robber. An eyewitness told a Kumasi based radio station that the residents, who have for some time now been victims of armed robbery believed Francis Eddy to be an armed robber when he was spotted in the bushes.

It is reported that a palm wine tapper who spotted the victim in the bush struggled with him but was overpowered by the latter following which the palm wine tapper rushed to the town to call people to assault the victim.

Francis Eddy is currently on admission at St. Peters Hospital receiving treatment while Police in Amansie Central conduct investigations into the matter.
