Residents at Tema Communities 4 and 7 are up in arms with the authorities of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) over the purported sale of a training center, the Golden Age Youth Training Center (GAYTC).

The center, which is meant to train the youth in diverse skills and apprenticeship, is allegedly being sold to some foreign investors.

The Golden Age Youth Training Center was built by the current Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey, in the year 2004 as a youth training center for the youth in Tema and its environs.

It has since been a place of happiness for the youth in the area, the youth claim.

The protest came hours after the residents’ claim they spotted contractors fencing the facility.

Some of the angry residents said they will resist any attempt by the city authorities to sell this national asset to foreigners.

The Public Relations Officer for TMA, Frank Asante when Prime News Ghana contacted said, the claims by the residents are all false.

“The assembly cannot sell a public property to foreigners”, he explained.
