The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with a narcotics operation in the Accra metropolis, following an intelligence-led crackdown on illegal drug activities.

The suspects, identified as Bright Ayivor, Ifeanyi Ijeoba, and Kwabena Botwe, were apprehended during a series of coordinated operations carried out between April 10 and April 11, 2026.

According to police, intelligence received by the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police indicated that a group was planning to sell suspected narcotic substances at Dzorwulu.

Acting on the tip-off, officers mounted surveillance in the area and arrested Ayivor and Ijeoba, who were found with 22 compressed substances believed to be cocaine, reportedly prepared for sale.

Further interrogation led to the identification of Kwabena Botwe as a key figure in the operation. A follow-up surveillance at Caprice resulted in his arrest during a planned transaction involving proceeds from the alleged drug trade.

Police said a subsequent search at Botwe’s residence at Greda Estates uncovered GH¢400,000 and a cash counting machine, believed to be linked to the illicit activities.

During the operation, the suspect allegedly attempted to bribe officers with an additional GH¢420,000, which has since been seized and retained as evidence.

All three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged the public to provide timely information to support ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in the country.
