Two men suspected to have been stealing TV decoders at Baidan, a suburb of Berekum in the Brong-Ahafo Region, have been lynched.

The two who could only be identified by their nicknames, Kwame Apontsey and Berekum Samini, in the company of a third person, reportedly went to one house and met a nine-year-old boy and asked him to go and buy them sachet water. But upon his return, the boy discovered that the strangers were not there.

He went into the father’s room and realised that the father’s TV decoder was not there and started shouting, ‘Thief! Thief!’ which attracted people who combed all corners for them.

The two were later chanced upon and lynched.

One of them died instantly, whilst another sustained bruises and was rushed to hospital but also died later with the third person, managing to escape.

Items like pliers, spanners and screw drivers were retrieved from them before their bodies were deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital.

The Berekum Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Asare Bediako, according to Daily Guide, confirmed the deaths saying nobody had been arrested as investigations were ongoing to arrest the attackers and bring them to book.
