The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely death of one of its lecturers, Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang, and his teaching assistant, Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, following a tragic road accident.
In a statement, the University said the two lost their lives in a motor accident at Third Ridge on the Cape Coast–Accra highway, describing the incident as a profound loss to the academic community.
Dr. Agyemang, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, was remembered as a dedicated academic whose contributions to teaching, research and service significantly impacted the University.
Management noted that his commitment and presence would be deeply missed by colleagues and students alike.
His teaching assistant, Amoadu-Asmah, a National Service person, was also praised for his academic excellence.
He was a recent graduate of the same department and completed as the overall best graduating student in his class.
The University extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them of its thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.
UCC further appealed to the public, particularly the media, to exercise sensitivity and restraint in reporting on the incident.
