Actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has been declared the winner for the Ayawaso West constituency, defeating New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Lydia Alhassan.

Dumelo garnered 47,560 votes, while the incumbent Lydia Alhassan got 39,214 votes.

His win marks a major achievement in his political career, after his first attempt in 2020, when he narrowly lost to Lydia Alhassan.

After the announcement of the results, Dumelo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the voters and pledged to work tirelessly to deliver on his campaign promises.

“This victory is not just for me, but for the people of Ayawaso West. I am committed to ensuring that we build a stronger, more prosperous community together,” Dumelo said.

Dumelo vowed to guard the seat reclaimed after 28 years of NPP dominance.

“We have sent the elephant back into the bush. It will never come outside again. We have taken back our seat, and we will guard it fiercely,” Dumelo told a jubilant crowd of supporters.
