The fate of the disqualified presidential nominees seeking reinstatement in the electoral race will be known today when the Electoral Commission (EC) releases the new list of eligible candidates.
It emerged not all the 12 failed presidential aspirants resubmitted their nomination papers as at deadline time of 5pm on Tuesday.
By the deadline time, only 8 of the 12 failed nominees managed to resubmit their amended forms including People’s National Convention's (PNC) Mahama, Progressive People’s Party's (PPP) Ndoum, National Democratic Party's (NDP) Agyemang-Rawlings, Great Consolidated Peoples Party's (GCPP) Lartey, All People’s Congress' (APC) Ayariga, United Front Party's (UFP) Boateng, United Progressive Party’s (UPP) Odike and an independent candidate, Kwame Asiedu Walker.
According to the PNC’s Edward Mahama, the EC assured them it will offer feedback once their amended forms were verified to ascertain if they met the legal criteria.
He declared since 2004, he’s called for strong institutions adding when the EC flexed its muscle and threw him out of the race, he did not resort to violence or name calling but headed to the law courts for redress.
Meanwhile the EC is expected to announce eligible candidates by close of work today for balloting to be done on Thursday.
