Five members of a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group in the Ashanti region Delta force has been arrested and charged with assault and unlawful damage of state properties by the Ashanti regional police command.

The group on Friday, March 24 attacked the Ashanti regional coordinating council over the new appointment of the regional security coordinator George Adjei.

Speaking to Radio Ghana the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ashanti regional police command ASP Yaw Nketia Yeboah said five members of the group have been charged with assault and causing unlawful damage.

“Five of them have been reported, first two were arrested on Friday and yesterday three additional reported themselves but all the five have been charged with assault and causing unlawful damage, these are the two charges that have been raised against them", he disclosed adding that,  "the Ashanti regional command led by DCOP Yeboah has directed that all of them should report themselves as their friends have done or we would smoke them out wherever they are”.

He cautioned the public to use laid down procedures in addressing their grievances to avoid falling short of the laws of the land.
