The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ewurabena Aubynn has been declared the MP-elect for Ablekuma North.

This follows a rerun conducted in 19 polling stations on Friday, July 11, 2025.

The results from the 19 polling stations completed the 281 polling station results required to determine the winner of the election initially held on December 7, 2024.

According to official results, Ewurabena Aubynn polled 34,090 votes while NPP’s Akua Afriyie polled 33,881 votes.

This marks the first time in the Fourth Republic that the governing party has claimed the traditionally NPP-held seat, following years of political dominance by the opposition party.

Tensions escalated during Friday's rerun when a group of unidentified macho men stormed a polling centre, disrupting the voting process and throwing the area into chaos.

Former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, was attacked, as well as NPP parliamentary candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, and a female party agent were severely assaulted during the incident.

Security personnel at the scene intervened, restored order, and protected the integrity of the election.
