The Education Minister says the ambassador for the Free SHS policy volunteered for the position and government is not paying him for the role.

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh on Thursday, June 22 outdoored Abraham Attah as the ambassador for the free SHS program. He is to spearhead the campaign on sensitizing the public on the policy.

A cross section of the Ghanaian public has questioned how effectively the young actor can fulfil the role, considering the fact that his achievements have been in the arts industry and not in the educational sector.

But reacting to critics, Dr Opoku Prempeh said Abraham Atta was not paid any money to campaign for Free SHS. "He thought that if God has put him where he is, he should come and support a noble cause. He walked into my office and declared to be a Free SHS ambassador for free".

Abraham Atta rose to fame when he starred in the Idris Elba movie, Beast of No Nation and won the Marcello Mastroianni’s Best Young Actor Award at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival
