Suspended national chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Paul Afoko, has claimed that the party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, prevented him from disciplining Kennedy Agyepong when he insulted fellow party members and some individuals in the country.

Mr Afoko told Africawatch magazine that each time he, as party chairman, attempted to rein in the Assin-Central member of Parliament, Nana Addo would step in and frustrate his effort.
He said: “His (Agyepong) reckless conduct and pronouncements are very damaging to the party and its fortunes...the party has members from every corner of the country but Agyepong gets up and spews hate speech against Ewes, Gas and Northerners. If you were NPP member from any of these ethnicities, how would you feel?
"This man gets up and calls fellow party members stupid. He goes on radio stations and even insults former President John Kufuor, the party’s living legend.
Afoko was suspended alongside the general secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, and Sammy Crabbe, a national vice chairperson, for allegedly working against the interest of the party ahead of the November elections.
