The member of Parliament for North Tongu and former deputy minister of education says the decision by President Akufo-Addo to defer some questions to the Vice President and some Ministers, during the media encounter held at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, has raised concerns on whether or not the President is on top of pertinent issues in the country. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa believes the President must at least have fair knowledge about every sector of the country.

The media encounter which was held at the Flagstaff House was in two folds, a remark by the President which focused on some policy implementation challenges and a question and answer session which enabled some journalists to ask questions relating to the administration of the country.

During the Q&A session, the President deferred among others, questions relating to the Ghana Law School admission process and some challenges confronting the Attorney General’s department to the Attorney General Gloria Akuffo, to be answered. He also directed the Veep to answer questions on the economy.

Speaking on JoyFM, Okudzeto Ablakwa said he is not too comfortable with the deferring of questions by the President to his ministers and that it raises concerns about whether he was on top of issues in the country.

He questioned why the President did not answer the questions relating to the A-G's department as he was a former head of the department. He believes Akufo-Addos posture during the engagement is not too encouraging as the Commander in Chief of the country.

But in a reaction, the deputy Chief of Staff Abu Jinapor said the posture of the president is not new as President John Agyekum Kufuor also employed the same strategy.

According to him, it demonstrates the President's confidence in his appointees to deliver on his policies. Though the President has a fair idea of every sector of the country, Mr. Jiapor said Nana Addo thought it best to provide detailed and extensive answers to the questions and that was rightly done by the Ministers at the meeting.
