President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has in fulfilment of Article 76(1) of the 1992 Constitution submitted his composition of cabinet ministers to Parliament.
The Article states that, “there shall be a cabinet which shall consist of the President, the Vice President and not less than ten and not more than nineteen Ministers of State.â€
In a list full of surprises, Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo; Works and Housing Minister, Atta Akyea; and Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful were excluded while Dan Botwe, Joe Ghartey, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Joseph Kofi Adda and Dr Anthony Akoto Osei who head the newly created portfolios of Regional Integration, Railway Development, Special Development Initiatives, Sanitation and Water, and Monitoring and Evaluation got in.
The duty of the cabinet is to “assist the President in the determination of general policy of the Government.â€
