President Akufo-Addo will on July 6 be expected to turn the valve to mark the commencement of a commercial exploration of  oil at the Tweneboa, Enyenra, Ntomme (TEN) fields in Western region.

TEN is operated by Tullow, and it is Ghana’s second major oil development. The project takes its name from the three offshore fields Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme situated in the Deepwater Tano block, around 60 kilometres offshore Western Ghana.

The TEN Plan of Development was approved by the Government of Ghana in May 2013, and by mid-2015 the project was over 65% complete.

President Akufo-Addo will turn the valve for commercial production of TEN to add up to the oil capacity of Ghana.

Meanwhile the minority in Parliament led by Haruna Iddrisu is taking credit for the plant, saying the project materialized because the then  NDC administration put in more effort to get the project off the ground. He said the government said the need for such exploration and so put in place measures, as far back as 2011, to regulate the oil regime in the country.

They say efforts put in place by the former regime under John Mahama has ensured Ghana is one of the most respected countries when it comes to oil exploration in the Africa
