The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to commence the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming Akwatia parliamentary by-election on Wednesday, August 20.
This follows a high-level meeting convened today by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) with representatives of political parties.
Speaking to the media after engagement, the Commission's Director of Electoral Services, Benjamin Bano-Bioh, indicated that "as of now, we are going to start the printing of ballots from tomorrow."
"Procurement has already been done. We have procured all the materials required for the election, so we are already," he added.
During Tuesday’s session, the IGP assured political parties of the Police Service’s readiness to maintain peace and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
The by-election comes in the wake of the passing of Akwatia’s Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who died in July 2025.
