It was humorous as much as it was sad when Alistair Nelson, who stands accused of issuing death threats against justices of the Supreme Court, submitted to her ladyship Sophia Akuffo perhaps in a bid to solicit sympathy that he suffers from ‘Kpokpogbligbli’, a reportedly unknown disease that possesses a person’s frame and controls his actions.
Alistair Nelson implied his rhetoric in a show of senseless bravado on Montie FM ought to be blamed on the unfortunate disease.
As the court was in session on Monday July 18, presiding judge Justice Sophia Akuffo directed that audiotapes which contained the threats issued by the two radio pundits Godwin Ako Gunn and Alistair Nelson be played in open court despite pleas from counsel for the contemnors, Nana Ato Dadzie, George Loh and Martin Ampofo Agyei.
Godwin Ako Gunn and Alistair Nelson are standing trial for contempt over threats they issued on Accra-based Montie FM weeks ago while a third contemnor, Salifu Maase, a.k.a. Mugabe, host of the show on which the threats were issued is also before the court for the same offence.
