The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has incurred the wrath of members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for subjecting their flagbearer to public ridicule.
Â
The NDC scribe popularly known as General Mosquito in response to Nana Akufo-Addo’s true state of the nation address which described Ghana as a country in crisis said the NPP leader is painting a gloomy picture just to score political points.
Addressing a news conference in Accra, Asiedu Nketia said the NPP leader’s response to President Mahama's State of the Nation Address to Parliament is “genetic, stale and pedestrian propagandaâ€.
He added that the NPP “chronically bereft of credible and measurable alternatives to the policies and programmes of President Mahama and the NDC†and that “they remain in tatters and choked with serious allegations of corruption and underhand dealings which render them incapable to governâ€.
But Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen, in a riposte on Adom News on Tuesday described Asiedu Nketia as a “shameless character†who has no locus to criticize Akufo-Addo.
According to him, all the NPP flagbearer sort to do in the true state of the nation address was to expose the embarrassing and sad spectacle of propaganda President Mahama displayed in the august House when in fact majority of Ghanaians are unemployed and the economy is sinking in debt.
Nana Obiri Boahen could not fathom why the NDC continue to tag Nana Akufo-Addo as a violent person when in fact the vile propaganda has been shot down.
“Assuming without admitting that Nana is violent, Ghanaians prefer him to a thief leading the country and is only creating, looting and sharing with his cronies†he fumed.
Nana Obiri Boahen said will continue to expose the “corrupt and incompetent†Mahama-led government and won’t be cow into submission by “ignorant†people like Asiedu Nketia.
