National Democratic Congress General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s recent claim that he was attacked by some mask men at Suhum in the Eastern Region may be a lie, according to another eye witness, a businessman, who said the former MP was not the subject of any attack.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia, then travelling from Brong Ahafo region to Accra, phoned into a private radio station to narrate how the suspected gunmen in a Toyota Tundra vehicle with registration number GT 666-12 drove past him around Teacher Mante, a town on the Suhum highway, and asked him to come down from his car.

He claimed the gunmen were wielding dangerous weapons including AK 47 rifle, slammed his car and only disappeared when they saw it was him in the car. Before they left, according to him, his driver was manhandled by the gunmen and had to take the intervention of himself and a friend to secure his freedom.

“I had a friend army officer who was with me in the car so he got down first and identified himself and asked them what was their problem….I am not sure whether they are armed robbers because nobody made any attempt to rob me of my hard earned money or other valuables,” he told Accra based Citi FM.

But  Asiedu Nketia’s claim has been disputed by a businessman Joe Forson, who insist General Mosquito is not telling the truth.

“I was rather stopped and he came to meet us at the stop but he was not attacked…it’s not true because he was not there and was only briefed so I am shocked at his account,” he told the station.

According to Mr Forson, he called Asiedu Nketia to advise him to desist from moving from radio station to station, narrating an account that did not happen to him.

“He called me this morning to listen to the true version so he can change his old untrue account on radio,” he added.

The case is meanwhile being investigated by the police and the party scribe said he is confident of the outcome, though he was unable to tell if those who he claimed to have attacked him were party militants.

But Communications Director of the NDC, Solomon Nkansah, in a press statement on Wednesday, said NPP party activists were behind the attack of the General Secretary and called on the government to investigate the matter without fail.
