Member of Parliament for Bantama in the Ashanti Region, Henry Kwabena Kokofu has denied media reports suggesting that he was resigning from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in order to contest the December 7, polls as an independent candidate.

Reports emerged last Friday that Mr Kokofu had resigned from the party to go independent and a statement purportedly signed by him and released on Saturday evening seemed to have confirmed the news.

But in an interview with Adom FM,  the former constituency chairman of the party who is currently out of the country declared that he is still a member of the NPP and had no intention of contesting as an independent.

“I will back in Ghana by Thursday. I have not resigned, I have not left the NPP,” he said.
