Blind can vote with ‘Tactile Voting Device’ in election - EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) says it is ready to accord Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) special privileges on Election Day.

Deputy Volta Regional head of the EC, Mohammed Nuhu mentioned on Krachi FM PWDs won’t be queuing with other citizens on December 7 to save them from stress.

He also submitted on the show that ballot box placement will be placed at accessible places with PWDs in minding adding location of polling stations have been situated with the group in mind.

Volta Regional President of the Ghana Blind Union also submitted that the blind can vote in this year’s election because of the availability of the Tactile Voting Device (A tactile voting device is a plastic device that can be fixed onto a ballot paper to enable visually impaired people to mark their ballot paper in secret.)

Ghana heads to the polls on December 7 to elect a president and parliamentarians.
