The former Deputy Power has said, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the National Security's vindication of the Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST), Alfred Obeng flies in the  face of the fight against corruption in the country.

John Jinapor who is also a member of the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament believes the findings by the BNI and National Security is shocking and a sad day for the country.

The BNI and National Security following investigations into the controversial sale of contaminated fuel into the Ghanaian market by BOST , has cleared the outfit of any wrongdoing. It also stated that the Managing Director of BOST, Alfred Boateng, was not involved in the sale of five million litres of substance to Movenpiina Company Limited.

But speaking on Accra-based Citi FM,Mr. Jinapor said, the decision spearheaded by government "is a heavy blow and huge technical knockout to the fight against corruption."

He added that, the National Petroleum Authority(NPA) has earlier stated that the companies involved, have not been licensed by the Authority and therefore contradicts itself by suggesting that there was no wrongdoing.

"The NPA promised to take appropriate action against the companies involved and all of a sudden, suggest that there is no wrongdoing?,"he asked.

He stressed that, Ghanaians did not vote for such development and the NPA is lowering the standard and setting a bad precedent in the sector.

He also denied contaminated fuel was  sold by BOST as far as 2014 when the National Democratic Congress(NDC) was in power.

"There is a deliberate attempt to throw dust in the eyes of the Ghanaian public as the information is woefully inadequate,"he stated.

Movenpiina and other companies found to be unlicensed in the deal would be sanctioned for operating in the country without proper authorization, according to the NPA.
