Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on his rival in the presidential election, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to concede defeat.
In an interview with GHone TV, Akufo-Addo said he was confident Mahama would do the right thing.
"I believe he is capable of meeting his responsibility and working to bring our nation together. The John Mahama that I know I believe is capable of rising to the occasion," he said.
Akufo-Addo stressed that the lead he had taken in the elections could not be overtaken, stressing that it was time for the NDC to let go.
Meanwhile, here is Electoral Commission’s certified results for 230 out 275 constituencies:
NDC- 4,030,992 (44.16% of *valid* votes)
NPP- 5,022, 917 (55.03% of *valid* votes)
Rejected- 131,591 (1.42% of total votes cast)
Turnout - 58.61%
