South Dayi Member of Parliament, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, has filed a defamation lawsuit against fellow MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, demanding GH¢30 million in damages.
The suit follows a post made by the Assin South MP on the social media platform X on May 8, 2025.
In the post, Rev. Ntim Fordjour accused Mr. Dafeamekpor of being involved in a controversial GH¢360,000 payment allegedly made by the former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahene.
The money was said to have been paid to two parliamentary committees during discussions on the National Signals Bureau Act and its Legislative Instrument.
Mr. Dafeamekpor, who also serves as the Majority Chief Whip, was named as Vice Chairman of one of the committees in question. He strongly denies any involvement in the payment and argues that the allegations have seriously damaged his reputation.
“This post has caused economic harm, disrupted my work, and affected me personally,” Mr. Dafeamekpor said in his claim.
He is seeking not only financial compensation but also a retraction, a public apology, and a court order to stop further similar publications.
The lawsuit claims the statements were intentionally made to paint him as corrupt and to tarnish his public image. It argues that the accusations were baseless and meant to mislead the public.
As the legal battle unfolds, both sides remain firm in their positions, and the court will now be left to determine whether the claims amount to defamation.
