The Electoral Commission, EC has declared Presidential candidate of the NDC, John Mahama as winner of the December 7 polls.
Speaking from the EC headquarters in Accra, the EC boss who is the returning officer said the election process has been transparent, credible, fair and peaceful.
According to her, Mahama obtained 6,328,397 votes representing 56.55% while flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia placed second, garnering 4,657,04 which represents 41.61% of the total ballots cast.
The total valid votes cast is 11, 191,422, with rejected ballots being 239,109.
Total votes were 11, 420,521.
The percentage of voter turnout stands at 60.9% based on 267 constituencies.
Mahama is expected to address the nation shortly after the official declaration by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa.
His speech will likely outline his vision for the country as he prepares for his second term in office, set to begin with his swearing-in on January 7, 2025.
