Private legal practitioner, Yaw Oppong has noted that although the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) has the mandate to investigate political parties, it is distasteful when the office chooses to chase certain political parties to disclose their source of funding leaving out others.

He told Agatha Asamoah on Radio Ghana that on a sensitive matter such as this in an election year, the EOCO ought to have presented its report on the Progressive People’s Party and All People’s Party to show the wrong they found regarding the two.

Mr. Oppong also mentioned that since Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials were on the EOCCO board, they would have known the income and channel or source of such monies to have built a case with only presenting the facts to Ndoum and Ayariga for their defense.

Dr. Nduom had disclosed on Joy FM that he footed the bill of GHc1,750,000 cedis for his filing fees and that of his parliamentary candidates while Mr Ayariga on the other hand, in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr FM had claimed spending over $6million to purchase vehicles and other campaign materials for his party and furthering of his presidential ambitions.

It is these assertions by the two failed presidential aspirants which the EOCO says it wants clarifications on.
