The Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu says he disagrees with some Ghanaians who argue the feud between the three Commissioners of the Electoral Commission will compromise the integrity of the election management body.

A.B. A Fuseini says the accusation and counter accusation between the three Commissioners of the EC will rather ensure accountability as they cannot condone and connive with each other to perpetuate corrupt activities to the detriment of the country’s democracy.

The three Commissioners have been in the media for the past few weeks accusing each other of misconduct and fraud.

The Chairperson Charlotte Osei in a response to a petition sent to the Presidency and EOCO by some unnamed staff demanding her impeachment for corruption and misconduct, accused her deputies of financial malfeasance. According to her, the deputy Commissioners signed contracts worth over GHS40m without her knowledge and authorization between July-September 2015.

She also accused the Deputy Chairperson of Operations, Amadu Sulley, of collecting funds above GHS6m in cash from some political parties for the organization of their party primaries without recourse to the structures of the Commission. The petition has been forwarded to the Chief Justice for consideration by the Presidency as required by law.

Another petition by a concerned citizen Emmanuel Lorsi Senyo for the impeachment of the two deputy Commissioners Georgina Opoku Amankwa and Amadu Sulley has also been forward to the CJ.

Speaking on Radio Gold's Alhaji&Alhaji program, Mr Fuseini said he believes that the fight between the three Commissioners will not affect the EC's integrity because it involves only the top hierarchy and not the entire body.

He repeated the NDCs claim that the disagreements are being orchestrated by the NPP as a way of getting rid of Charlotte Osei. According to him utterances by top members of the NPP prior to the 2016 general elections clearly point to the fact that it has always been the plan of the NPP to get Mrs Osei out of office.

He is of the view the CJ will find no substance in the petition because the issues raised in it are baseless.
