Former President Mahama has dismissed allegations that he constructed a 'needless guesthouse' at Bole from COCOBOD accounts as false.

The CEO of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo accused former president Mahama of initiating the construction of a guest house in his hometown Bole for his personal comfort from the COCOBOD account during his term of office.

“.....For instance, to construct a guest house at Bole in the Northern Region, which was needless at the time it was awarded. President John Mahama was said to have influenced the awarding to enable him to enjoy a comfortable holiday during his visit to his constituency,” he said.

However, in a press release, the office of President stated that the 'Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana, Research Station Guesthouse has been in existence since 1975 and could not have possibly been constructed during his tenure.

He added that his office has noted a regrettable pattern of false information put out by the COCOBOD CEO with the intention of slandering the former president as a way of covering up his own bad management practices.

He further advised Boahen Aidoo to focus on discharging his many duties in managing the cocoa sector instead of slandering and indulging in acts of partisanship.

Boahen Aidoo also alleged that the immediate past administration of COCOBOD led by Stephen Opuni misappropriated millions of cocoa funds on frivolous activities and are currently being investigated by the Economic and Organized Crime Office for financial malfeasance.
