National Chairman of the opposition NDC Kofi Portuphy says government is behind the recent killings of some police personnel in the country.

Speaking at a press conference at the party’s headquarters on Thursday, Mr. Portuphy said the Akufo-Addo led administration, through “militant” and “extremist” groups like Delta Force and others have been emboldened by the state to carry out these acts.

Just last week in a daylight at Lapaz, a suburb in Accra, two robbers opened fire on two police officers, killing one and injuring another. The robbers subsequently captured a private car and sped off. Fifteen people have so far been arrested as a result of the incident and are being investigated.

Government has come under severe criticisms from a section of the public for the activities of some elements of the delta Force group, who attacked a court during the trail of some of their members. Thirteen of them are currently before the court and expected back next month.

President Akufo-Addo has given indication his administration will not shield anyone caught to have misconducted himself in the matter, nor will shield anyone who violates the rules of the country.

But Mr. Portuphy said the president is not one to be trusted with the security of this country because of how he has turned a country “peacefully” left for him into one of “anarchy” and “lawlessness” which has been allowed to fester in the country.

“Hardly does the day pass by with “gory crimes” with “brazen bravado” in the country,” he said.

Mr. Portuphy said the increasing security in the system has created “fear among innocent Ghanaians who are struggling in the excruciating economic  conditions.”

According to him, the president has “incorporated militancy and violence extremism” in the governance structure, therefore allowing “outright criminals”  to runaround the country with impunity.

“Why is mother Ghana bleeding so badly under  the akufo addo government”

He also accused the government of sinking in “quick sand” of corruption and the president is only interested in making excuses for the “massive” corruption which continues to grow in his administration.

Mr. Portuphy was certain the president is not capable of fighting corruption as he promised during the campaign that got him into government.

He said more than 1 billion Ghanaian Cedis has been allocated to the presidency but nothing to other ministries.

He said arrogance, lies have become the “visible trademark” of the NPP administration.
