The founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has appointed a new general secretary to take over from the embattled secretary Razak Opoku who endorsed New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo last Sunday.

Razak Opoku, according to Hassan Ayariga, is suspended indefinitely for breaching the provisions of the constitution of the party and as the founder and leader, he had the right and constitutional powers as stated in the constitution of the APC to appoint or sack any officer including the General Secretary.

Hassan Ayariga explained that per the APC's constitution, the leader of the party can appoint the General Secretary and at the same time fire the General Secretary. The party fired the General Secretary and I endorsed it.

“Today, I stand before you to appoint a new General Secretary Mr. Mordechai Thiombiano Lompo. Mr. Mordechai Thiombiano Lompo was the National Youth organizer. The position for the youth organizer has been taken over by Alhassan Abu", he said warning that, “we will boot any other member out who fails to adhere to the constitution of the party and go contrary to the position and endorsement of President Mahama” .
