Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyepong earned the praise of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential nominee, Nana Akufo-Addo.

There was brewing tension at Assin Fosu in the Central Region when a newly built market complex funded by Hon Agyapong from his share of the Common Fund was to be commissioned desiring with Dr. Bawumia on a five day tour of the Region, they would together open the market to much fanfare but District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area had other ideas.

DCE, Dr. Kofi Blankson opposed the MP’s plans stating once the market was under the Assembly and was to be managed by the Assembly, it was only logical that the Assembly commissioned it. This erosion of his anticipated glory incensed the fiery MP and a bloody showdown could have arisen but he eventually gave up any hopes of commissioning the market.

Rather opting for a nearby place for the rally which had Dr. Bawumia in attendance. It was here that the economist praised the legislator commending him for choosing peace rather than a fight.

Uniformed men are reportedly guarding the market to prevent entry.
