Former Chief Executive Officer of  the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, has denied allegations she inflated the cost of vehicles meant for the  Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), insisting she is being persecuted by the current government.
Media reports this week said 100 Chevrolet Spark vehicles, 150 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles and 100 Izusu buses, “left at the mercy of the weather†because of the excessive price which GPRTU refused to purchase them.
The current officials at MASLOC say their own internal audit reveals cars sold for $9,000 in the showrooms of MAC Auto & Spare Parts, were purchased at around $16, 000 per vehicle from the same company resulting in a reported loss of about $2 million.
Speaking on a radio talkshow, Ms Attionu said the allegations are not only false but an attempt to embarrass her for deciding to work for the country. According to her she remains a “punching bag†to the government, and government deliberately uses her to divert attention from their issues.
“There is some kind of concerted effort to bring me down,†she said. When asked why she feels so, her response was that; “I don’t know but ask the people who are doing that.â€
Ms Attionu said she stands by every grain of decision she took during her service at MASLOC and does not regret decisions she took during her time.
When pressed about reports whether she has been invited by the EOCO outfit, she said but will not go into specifics because the case is being handled.
