The United Progressive Party (UPP) parliamentary candidate for New Edubiase in the Ashanti region Mrs. Grace Lovia Adjei has stepped down to support the NPP parliamentary candidate George Oduro to unseat the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament Hon. Ernest Kofi  Yakah

In an interview with Prime News Ghana, Mrs Adjei disclosed explained that after several consultations with some party members, they have realised that the only way to unseat the incumbent MP who for the past years has performed below standard in terms of development in the constituency is to join hands  with NPP candidate, hence her decision.

In this vein, she disclosed that she was permanently leaving the UPP to join the NPP in order to work for the win adding that that whether or not NPP parliamentary candidate George Oduro wins or loses the election, she will forever be an NPP member.

“If the NPP candidate win or loss I am not going back to UPP and as a matter of fact I am no more a UPP member", Mrs Adjei whose campaign had been hinged on the establishment of scholarship scheme and a university as well as the addition of a technical and vocational institution to the only existing Senior High School in the constituency stressed.

Refuting claims that The United Progressive Party (UPP) cannot pay the filing fee Gh¢10,000 by the Electoral Commission as the cause of her decision to step down, she explained that “my party is hundred percent ready to pay and even myself I am ready to pay but we think it will be better to for us to join hands in order to win power and develop our constituency since the incumbent has done nothing for the past 12 years.”
