Peter Mac Manu, the campaign manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has denied saying the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, is a paid agent of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
A news portal, Weeklyguidegh.com, had quoted him as saying that Mr Agyapong worked for the NDC and should be treated with the contempt he deserved.
But in a statement issued to the media, Mr Manu rejected the claims, stressing that he had neither said that nor granted an interview to the website in question.
Describing the report as “evil†and “maliciousâ€, he said he had no basis to make such disparaging remarks about Mr Agyapong.
“The story is obviously yet another desperate and shameless fabrication from one of the many discredited online news portals operated by assigns of the NDC ostensibly to set NPP leadership on a
“I would normally not respond to such obvious falsehoods on the internet but it has become rather necessary to expose this vicious propaganda and lies from the NDC."
Mr Manu called on members of the NPP to focus on working to get Nana Akufo-Addo elected in December and avoid being distracted by what he called the “usual NDC liesâ€.
