Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Freddy Blay has dismissed suggestion he and the wife have been rewarded with juicy positions, while a good number of party supporters who contributed to the party's victory still wallow in economic misery.

Gina Blay, a senior member of the editorial board of the Daily Guide newspaper, is currently the country’s ambassador to Germany, where she is expected to use her position to strengthen ties with one of the powerful countries in Europe.

Mr. Blay on the other hand is the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Authority, GNPC, where he chairs a team to assist management of the authority deliver quality service to Ghanaians.

Critics however say such positions are just part of a bigger reward by the top echelons of the party, who continue to plead with party supporters and non-alike to remain calm, whilst steps are taken to address their challenges.

But speaking on Citi Fm’s Eyewitness news, Mr. Blay dismissed claims people like him are reaping the fruits of political victory at a time when majority of their supporters struggle to define the direction of their lives.

According to him, the current position he occupies at GNPC is not a “reward” but “service”  and people should see it like that.

On the wife’s position, he said he was in no position to speak for her but revealed the ambassadorial job was not her first. She, according to him, was first approached to serve in Nambia but declined because she had not made up her mind.

Mr. Blay said the environment was appropriate for her to make her own decision and he is in no position to stand in her way.
