Former Executive Director of Danquah Institute Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has rubbished allegation he is part of an alleged “mafia” group at the Flagstaff House, whose members have created a fence around the president ostensibly to deny access to him[President] by some equally important persons in government.

NPP Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyepong has consistently maintained Asare Otchere-Darko, who is a relative of the president, has assumed a powerful status and is using his position to dictate to appointees of the state, including re-assigning portfolios to persons who are not known to the party.

One of the NPP’s own known religious leaders Prophet Owusu-Bempah has also waded into the matter and accused Mr. Asare Otchere-Darko of  not only “hijacking” the president but diverting legitimate contracts away from those it should go to.

“These people are able to turn contracts from the rightful contractor to persons of their choice and President Akufo- Addo doesn’t see some of these things because he’s not God. I’ll soon expose them after engaging the President, we’ll not allow people to cause problems for the Akufo Addo government to fail because he toiled several years before becoming President. If God has blessed Ghana with such a leader, why will Gabby Asare Octhere Darko and other persons surrounding the President doing things to wreck the government,” he alleged on Accra’s based Neat FM.

According to him, the Chief of Staff has not even been given the free hand to work at the presidency; a situation he said should be stopped without delay.

“Even the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare’s work appears to have been hijacked by some persons, and some of us cannot sit down and allow such conducts to continue. Nana Akufo Addo is not their personal property, he’s there for all Ghanaians and if things are going wrong we must be bold to speak up.”

But reacting to the allegations on Facebook, the former DI boss said he does not work at the presidency, but runs a law firm where protects the corporate and legal interest of his clients.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I do not work at the Presidency and lack the luxury to hang around the President doing 'kokonsa.' I run a law firm, Africa Legal Associates, where my job is to pursue the legal/corporate (legitimate) interests of my clients. That is my job. In fact, my only job. You may choose to hate. You may even choose to manufacture your own facts about me. But, that's ok. It is part of life and part of being me, I guess. I accept.”
