Nana Akufo-Addo has pledged to increase the annual budgetary allocation for the agriculture sector by 300% since it is the engine of growth yet enduring neglect from the Mahama led presidency.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, made the pledge in the Nkwanta South District of the Volta Region on his ‘Restoration of Hope tour.’

Rounding up day three of the tour, Nana Akufo-Addo also told the chiefs and people that he will create an additional region to be named the Oti Region.

He stated his 1 District, 1 Factory pledge was feasible adding it was regrettable that only 1% of government budget is dedicated to the agric sector in the Mahama regime while President Kufuor even in his time devoted 4% to the sector.

A Paramount chief in the Nkwanta North District blamed poverty levels in the area to the high unemployment rate enabled by President Mahama with his weak policies recollecting that President Kufuor’s regime brought great times.
