“I will not countenance any acts of disloyalty”-Akufo-Addo cautions deputy ministers

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has cautioned his deputy ministers against acts that have the tendency undermine the work of the substantive ministers of state.
Speaking at a ceremony to swear in ten deputy regional ministers approved by Parliament, the President said he will treat such act as an act of subversion to the Presidency, the party and the state.

“Loyalty to the minister is fundamental to the success of your work I will not countenance any acts of disloyalty or subversion of your Minister, for I will take such an act as disloyalty to me, and, by inference, disloyalty to the Party and the State. Any Deputy, who thinks the route to advancement lies in your ability to subvert or undermine your Minister, will be sadly mistaken. You will not profit from that conduct in Akufo-Addo’s presidency.”
 
President Akufo-Addo indicated that loyalty to the minister is a key indicator of the success of the deputy ministers.

“I want you to work with your minister in all sincerity and transparency that is the guarantee of what success and our collective success.”
 
The President also urged the deputy Regional Ministers to speedily declare their assets, as all 36 of the Ministers of the central government have duly filled their assets declaration.
 
“We must jealously guard the commitment we have made to the Ghanaian people that we have come to do public service, not advance our own personal fortunes. As you know, I am complying with the requirement in our manifesto to notify the Auditor General of the names of all Article 71 office holders, such as yourselves, of your appointment,” he stated.
 
The deputy ministers took the oaths of allegiance, Minister and secrecy and were presented the instrument of appointment and subsequently signed the book of oath of ministers.
 
They include Upper West Region – Amidu Ishaq, Upper East Region – Frank Fuseini Adongo ,Northern Region – Solomon Namliit Boar, Brong Ahafo Region – Evans Opoku Bobbie. The rest are Ashanti Region – Elizabeth Agyemang, Eastern Region – Joseph Tetteh , Western Region - Eugenia Gifty Kusi, Central Region – Thomas Adjei Baffour, Volta Region – Maxwell Blagogee , Greater Accra Region – Elizabeth Sackey.
