Mr. Agyapong was the first aspirant to pick up nomination forms for the January 31, 2026, primaries after a group of NPP MPs, including Kwaku Kwarteng (Obuasi West), Charles Forson (Tema West), Stephen Amoah (Nhyiaeso), and Lawrence Agyinsam (Hemang Lower Denkyira), collected them on his behalf on August 5.
He enters the race as one of the frontrunners, having placed second behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the party’s 2024 flagbearer contest.
